The big-eared bat (Histiotus montanus) is an insectivorous bat of the Chiroptera order living in South America, with nocturnal habits. It has big ears, which are extended until its labial comissure. Its fur is grey or dark coffee-coloured. It is 11 cm long and has a wingspan of 29 cm (a little less than the big big-eared bat). Its tail is totally included in the uropatagium (the nearest part to the membrane tail that composes the wings). It inhabits in Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Normally, it lives in forest zones, buildings and mines.
