Neofelis diardi, the Lady of the Mist

Irbis Manul

The Borneo’s mist panther (Neofelis diardi) is a medium-sized carnivour mammal endemic from Borneo and Sumatra, and it is the major cat in Borneo. Its fur shows irregular oval black shapes similar to clouds. That’s why its name. It has a thickset body, with a weight of 12-25 Kg. It has flexible short paws and long nails. Its canine teeth are 5 cm long, so they are longer than other’s cats related to their head. Its tail, which is implied in its equilibrium, can be so long as its body. This species’ habits are little known because of its nocturnal and evasive characteristics. It is believed to be a lonely animal.
