In the illustration it can be observed the flying deer (Lucanus cervus), a coleoptera beetle-shaped species belonging to the Lucanidae family, in its habitat. It is considered the biggest bettle in Europe, with a size variating between 3 cm 9 cm in males. They present a noticeable gender dimorfism; males are much bigger and their jaws, much more developed than females ones, are used to fight, as it can be oberserved in the illustration. Its common name is due to the jaws shape, which reminds deer horns. It is a species en regression due to its habitat lost and hunting.
