Maria Elena Ferrari
Nature and drawing are my two great passions that I have combined into a single profession. I live and I work in Italy.
I am a wildlife biologist and since 1997 I work as a freelance wildlife artist, collaborating with national and regional parks, environmental associations, publishers and private clients.
I was selected among the finalists of the “BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2012 competition” and in 2013 and 2015 among the finalists of the “Wildlife Artist of the Year – DSWF”, London.
I received the “Special Mention” at the international Art competition 20202 Otter day organized by the IUCN/SSC Otter Specialist Group.
I love telling about Nature through field sketchbooks, some of which I have published for a few years with Pandion editions. I think that sketching in nature is a way to better observe, to memorize and to get in emotional contact with nature.
I also love teaching and involving people in nature conservation through nature drawing.
